Meaka is heading up our team this year. We went to high school together but were never really friends, just acquaintances. After I was diagnosed I lost many "close friends" but Meaka reached out (on facebook of course) and we have been close ever since. Unfortunately I open with some sad news. My good friend and neighbour Astrid lost her battle with breast cancer last night aged 45. She was originally diagnosed at 39, and a month after I was diagnosed in 2008, it was discovered she had widespread metastases.<br /><br />We compared mastectomy scars and prostheses, went bandanna shopping, and had chemo together for six months. She was the only other person I knew with breast cancer- we were like partners in crime.
